An original pair of French Army Model 1947 Trousers dating from 1953 and in great condition.
This pattern of trousers was introduced in the immediate post-war years and saw service in Indochina and the Algerian War amongst other places.
The trousers are made from a heavy weight, hard wearing cotton and feature slash pockets to the hips, cargo pockets to the side of each leg, tabs at the bottom of the legs and two rear pockets. Chocolate brown buttons are fitted which are typical of the period and belt loops can be found at the waist.
Inside the trousers the manufacturer's marking is present to the waistband and the town of Toulouse is present as is the size of 25. The Armee stamp is present as is the date stamp which reads 19/6/1953
The trousers will fit someone of around a 36" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -
Waist - 18 3/4"
Rise - 16"
Rear rise - 19"
Inside leg - 29"
Outside leg - 42 1/2"
Cuff - 10 1/2"
The trousers are in very good condition with only very limited signs of previous wear and use. They are still very wearable and present nicely. They are however a vintage, pre-worn item and may have small issues consummate with their age.
