Original 1950s West German Federal Police Bundesgrenzschutz Jacket

Original 1950s West German Federal Police Bundesgrenzschutz Jacket

Code: 54702

SOLD

An original West German Bundesgrenzschutz camouflage jacket dating from the 1950s.

In the post-war period the new West German Bundeswehr Army introduced this pattern of camouflage jacket which was based on those used during the Second World War. Due to its similarity to the WW2 issue jackets they proved unpopular and were discontinued in the late 1950s, making them rare to find today. The camouflage pattern is Sumpfmuster , Marsh Camo, Tan and Water pattern camouflage.

The jacket features a full buttoning front, flapped chest pockets, lower flapped pockets, long sleeves with elbow reinforcement and buttoning cuff detail. The shoulders feature loops through which shoulder boards can be fitted and inside the jacket features a small dressing pocket. As well as this the original stamp is still present and reads 'W & O VII/60 BGS/46'.

The jacket is a smaller size which will suit around a 36" chest, depending on desired fit. It is designed to be roomy and oversized like all combat jackets and when laid flat measures -

Chest - 21"
Inside arm - 19"
Outside arm - 22 1/2"
Shoulders - 19 1/4"
Length - 29"

The jacket is in good condition overall with signs of wear and use. It displays well and is still very wearable but please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn combat jacket which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A great looking camouflage jacket which would make a great addition to any wardrobe or collection!
