An original 195os French Army Model 1947 Combat Jacket in well worn condition and in a large size.
This pattern of tunic was introduced in the immediate post-war years and saw service in Indochina and the Algerian War amongst other places.
The tunic is made from a heavy weight, green coloured cotton herringbone twill and features a full button front. The front of the jacket features chest pockets and lower pockets and epaulettes are located to the shoulders. The cuff features a tab which fastens with chocolate brown buttons. The same buttons are used to fasten the front, the pockets and to secure the epaulettes. There is also a throat latch to the underside of the collar which helps to fasten the collar securely around the wearer's neck. Inside the jacket the original markings are still present.
The tunic will suit around a 44" chest and possibly larger. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 26"
Inside arm - 20 1/2"
Outside arm - 22"
Shoulders - 20"
Length - 30"
The jacket is in worn condition as can be seen in the pictures. It shows signs of wear and age particularly at the collar which has worn through in two places. There are other signs of wear including a partially broken button at the cuff etc. Please study the pictures provided before purchasing as this is a vintage item.
A nice example of this pattern of French Army tunic which is becoming more and more sought-after.
