An original pair of French Army Model 1947 Trousers dating from the early 1950s and in good condition.
This pattern of trousers was introduced in the immediate post-war years and saw service in Indochina and the Algerian War amongst others.
The trousers are made from a heavy weight, hard wearing cotton twill and feature slash pockets to the hips, cargo pockets to the side of each leg, tabs at the bottom of the legs and two rear pockets. Brown buttons are fitted which are typical of the period and belt loops can be found at the waist. Interestingly, the original owner has added press studs to the bottom of each trouser leg which allows them to be worn in a cuffed fashion as illustrated in picture 7. This was most likely added for wearing with high topped boots.
The trousers are a medium size which will fit someone of around a 35" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -
Waist - 17 1/2"
Rise - 15"
Rear rise - 18"
Inside leg - 26"
Outside leg - 39"
Cuff - 10 1/2"
The trousers are in good condition with some signs of previous wear and use. Overall they display well and are totally wearable still. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item and may have small issues consummate with their age.
A nice pair of post-war French military trousers!
