An original British Fire Brigade double breasted tunic in good condition.
This style of tunic was worn by numerous different Fire Brigades across Britain during the 1940s and 1950s. It is made from a black coloured heavy wool serge material and features a double breasted front which fastens with white metal buttons which are specific to the fire brigade this was issued to. It also features a stand collar and epaulettes are located at the shoulders.
The interior features a single pocket as well as the original paper issue label. It bears the title 'S W Area Fire BGDE' and the size of 10. The maker's name 'Manclark & Son Ltd' is also present.
The tunic will suit around a 34-36" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 19 1/2"
Inside arm - 18 1/2"
Outside arm - 25 1/2"
Shoulders - 17"
Length - 30 1/2"
The tunic is in good condition and does not appear to have been issued or worn. It displays well but is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice original tunic complete with its original label!
