An original 1971 dated Canadian Army Extreme Cold Weather Parka in a size extra large.

These parkas were designed to be worn in very cold temperatures and are extremely well built. Featuring an olive coloured nylon outer shell and nylon lining which has a thick intermediate layer, creating a very warm jacket which is also highly waterproof. The coat features an integral hood which has a fur trim to the edge and is lined with a wool shirting material as illustrated in the last picture. A drawstring is fitted around the mouth of the hood and features plastic stoppers. There is another drawstring at the waist inside the coat and a third is located to the bottom hem. The front of the coat fastens with a 'Lightning' brand zipper which features the letters 'LF' which denotes Lightning Fasteners. The pockets feature the turn back flaps also employed on British military garments such as the ventile smock and ventile parka.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present and bears the title 'Parka, Man's CF,  OG107 Cold Weather' along with the maker's name of North West Sportswear Ltd. The date is marked as March 1971 and the size is stated as extra large.

The coat is designed to fit an extra large size and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 29"
Inside arm - 20"
Outside arm - 26 1/2"
Shoulders - 22 1/2"
Length at back - 36"

The coat is in good condition with some signs of previous wear and use. It displays well and is totally wearable with some limited staining etc. There is some damage to the lining of the hood as illustrated in the last picture but this is not notciable when the coat is displayed. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice original early 1970s military parka which is seriously warm!
