A rare original British Army 'Jersey Man's, Heavy' which was made in 1974.

This pattern of jumper was introduced in the late 1960s and replaced the earlier 'commando' style jumper which was produced during WW2 and throughout the following two decades. Whilst at first glance this looks like a standard 'wooly pully', it is in fact the much rarer first pattern example which does not feature epaulettes.

The jumper is made from an olive green coloured wool and features cotton drill elbow and shoulder patches. Inside the jumper there are two labels, one of which is located to the neck and features cleaning instructions. The maker's label is present to the inside side seam and bears the title as well as the size of 2. The maker's name of 'T. W. Kempton Ltd' is present as is the A/78 contract number and the 1974 date.

When laid flat the jumper measures -

Chest - 16" (pulls out to 20")
Inside arm - 21 1/2"
Outside arm - 20 1/2"
Shoulders - 18"
Length at rear - 27 1/2"

The jumper is in good condition for its age with no serious flaws or wear. There are limited signs of wear and age but overall it displays well. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A hard to find pattern of jumper which would suit a Northern Ireland Troubles period collector well.
