An original British Army Windproof Cadet Smock in a size 2 which was made in the 1970s.

Officially designated 'Smock Windproof Green Cadet Forces (AD), these smocks were based on the Blacks standard anorak and saw extensive use throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Made from a green coloured, tight weave cotton; this smock features a large pocket to the centre of the chest which seals with velcro, two lower patch pockets which fasten with buttons a white nylon drawstring to the waist and another to the hood. The hood features a short zip with chrome plated puller which is marked 'NZ'.

Inside the smock the original label is still present and is still bright and legible. It bears the size of 2 along with the maker's name of 'James Smith & Co Derby'. The A/78 contract number is also present and dates the smock to around the mid 1970s.

When laid flat the smock measures -

Chest - 21"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 21 1/2"
Length - 28"
Shoulders - 22 1/2"

The overall condition of the smock is good with some signs of wear and use. It is still very wearable with no major flaws aside from the hole to the rear which is illustrated in picture 8. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A nice example of this pattern of smock in good condition.
