An original British Army jumper dating from 1970 and in good condition.
This jumper is based on the British Army officer's jungle pattern jumper which was introduced during the Second World War. It features the same opening at the shoulders which allow the epaulettes of the shirt worn underneath to be pulled though and worn on top of the jumper. The jumper is made from a machine knitted wool and features a V neck and cuff and waistband detail.
Inside the jumper the original manufacturer's label is still present and it bears the maker's name of 'Wylman' and the size is stated as 40. The date of manufacturer of 1970 is also included, as is the War Department broad arrow marking.
The jumper is designed to fit a 40" chest and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 20"
Outside arm - 25"
Shoulders - 18"
Length - 28"
The jumper is in very good condition as can be seen in the pictures. It shows only limited signs of age or wear and displays very well. There is a very small hole to the rear below the left shoulder and a slight defect to the sleeve as illustrated in the pictures.
All in all a nice original jumper which comes complete with its original label.
