An original pair of 1962 dated Drill Green Gurkha Shorts in excellent unworn condition.
This pattern of shorts was produced specifically for Gurkha regiments but being British made look very similar to standard issue shorts. They are made from a green coloured cotton drill material and feature slash pockets at the hips and no rear pockets. They also have a button fly which fastens with green plastic buttons and a curious double pleat to the front right and no pleats to the left.
Inside the shorts the original label is still present as is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Shorts Drill Green Gurkhas' along with the size of 7. The maker's name of 'Clifford Williams & Son Ltd' is also present as is the 1962 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.
The shorts will suit a 29" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 14 1/2"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear rise - 16 1/2"
Inside leg - 8"
Outside leg - 20"
Cuff - 15"
The shorts are in excellent condition and look to be unworn. They are still a deep colour as they would have been when first made and they have no flaws or signs of wear. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing however as they are a vintage, pre-owned item, which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A very nice pair of original early 1960s shorts with a clear label and in excellent condition.
