An original British Army or RAF 'Shirt Men's Green' dating from the 1960s to early 1970s and in good condition.
The shirt is made from cellular cotton which is often referred to as 'Aertex'. It is a lightweight, breathable fabric ideally suited to the tropics and was popular with the British military during WW2 as well as in the post-war years. It features a full button front, pleated chest pockets, epaulettes and long sleeves. The original owner has fitted tropical sergeant stripes to the right hand sleeve which is a nice period addition.
The original label is present to the inside of the neck and is still bright and legible. It states the collar size as 15 1/2, the manufacturer as 'Northern Counties Shirt Co Ltd' as well as the A/78 contract number which dates the shirt to the late 1960s or very early 1970s.
When laid flat the shirt measures -
Chest - 21 1/2"
Inside arm - 19 1/2"
Outside arm - 21 1/2"
Shoulders - 16 3/4"
The shirt is in very good condition with only limited signs of wear and use. Please note however that this is a pre-worn vintage item and may have small issues consummate with this.
A nice original British military shirt made from that great cellular cotton material!
