An original pair of British Army Bedford Cord Service DressBreeches made in 1955.
This pattern of breeches was worn by various mounted regiments from the time of the Great War until recently. Made from a heavy, khaki green coloured bedford corduroy, these breeches feature frog mouth pockets, a button fly and brace buttons around the top of the waistband. The fly buttons have been moved to allow for a larger waist size and the buttons that fasten at the calves have been removed.
Inside the breeches the War Department acceptance stamp is still present and is surmounted by the letter 'T' which denotes 1955 or 1956 as the year of manufacture.
The breeches will suit someone of about a 33" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 17"
Rise - 15"
Rear rise - 19"
Inside leg - 25 1/2"
Cuff - 5 1/2"
Calf - 6 3/4"
The breeches are in average condition with multiple moth grazes and limited signs of wear and use. Please study the pictures before purchasing.
A reasonable pair of original breeches which could be used to complete a mounted uniform displayed on a mannequin or used for re-enactment purposes.
