A scarce original 1955 pattern 'Jumpers, Heavy' in good condition which was made in the 1960s.

This pattern of Jumper came into issue during the Second World War and is often referred to as the 'Commando' sweater. It went through a number of design changes in the early 1950s which resulted in this 4th pattern which was produced into the 1960s. The jumper is made from a khaki green coloured wool in a ribbed pattern and features tan coloured cotton drill elbow patches and shoulder patches. Epaulettes are fitted to each shoulder and made from the same material and the cuffs and neck opening also feature cotton drill material. A drawstring is present to the neck and the buttons which fasten the epaulettes are plastic.

Inside the jumper the original label is no longer present although there is evidence of where one was previously fitted to the inside of the neck opening.

The jumper is a medium size which will suit around a 40" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 20 1/2" (pulls out to 23 1/2")
Inside arm - 23 1/2"
Outside arm - 25"
Shoulders - 21"
Length - 27 1/2"

The condition of the jumper is good for its age and it displays well. Overall it is wearable with no serious flaws or damage. It is a very fresh example which would be hard to better in many ways. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which has some flaws commensurate with age.

Altogether a good example of this scarce pattern of jumper which displays extremely well.
