An original British Army V-Neck Aertex shirt in white, clearly dated 1954.
This shirt is made from cellular cotton, often referred to as 'Aertex', which is a lightweight, breathable fabric which is ideally suited to hot climates and exercising. It was a popular choice for British military wear for these reasons. The shirt features a V-Neck opening around the neck and short, capped sleeves.
Inside the top the original label is still present and states the manufacturer as 'Faulat' of Belfast and the size as 001. To the bottom of the label the 1954 date is present as is the War Department broad arrow marking.
The top is an extra small size and when laid flat measures -
Chest - 12"
Shoulders - 10 1/2"
Length - 24"
The overall condition of the garment is good with some light staining as can be seen in the pictures.
A nice original Aertex top!
