An original 1952 dated example of the British Army Rain Cape Groundsheet in good used condition.
This pattern of rain cape came into issue with the British Army in 1917 and was designated MKVII. It remained in use with various changes for the next 30-40 years, with the main shape and outline being unchanged. Late in the Second World War manufactures changed the colour of these capes from khaki to green and this production carried on well into the 1950s.
The cape bares the original makers marking in one corner which reads 'G Strauss & Sons Ltd' 1952. The War Department broad arrow marking is also present.
The condition of the cape is good as can be seen in the pictures. There are no rips or tears or any others signs of damage. There are signs of use and it may benefit from a clean.
Overall a nice original late war pattern cape in good usable order.
