An original British Army 1950 Pattern Jungle Green Bush Jacket Dated 1951.
This pattern of jacket closely follows the design of those used during the Second World War. It is made from cellular cotton, or ‘Airtex’ as it is often referred to which is dyed green for use in the jungle. The jacket features two upper breast pockets and two lower flapped pockets, long sleeves which feature a button cuff.
The original label is still present inside the jacket and states the size as No.6 which will fit someone of around 5’8” with a 38-40” chest and a 33-35” waist. The manufacturers name is stated as ‘CEMAN’ as it the 1951 date. Below these details is the War Department broad arrow marking which was applied to all British military issue clothing.
When laid flat the jacket measures -
Chest - 21”
Inside arm - 15 1/2”
Outside arm - 21 1/2”
Length - 29”
The jacket is in well worn condition with a period repair to the top of the right sleeve as well as a few holes to the right shoulder. Please study the pictures as they form part of the description.
A reasonable example with an early date for this pattern and a great label.
