An original British Army Officers Jungle Green shirt in good condition which dates from the 1950s.
This shirt is typical of those made in Hong Kong during the 1950s. It is made from a green dyed cotton rayon mix and features green coloured plastic buttons.Pleated pockets which feature scalloped pocket flaps are located to the chest whilst the epaulettes feature stitched holes. The lower holes would have originally had a regimental title fitted whilst the upper two sets would have been for rank. To the upper sleeve is a formation badge which was worn by HQ Land Forces Hong Kong which are printed examples and clearly original to the shirt.
Inside the shirt the original maker's label is still present and bears the maker's name of 'Punjab House' along with the address. The graphics are typical of items made in Hong Kong for British officer's during this period.
The shirt is a small size which should fit around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 20 1/4"
Length at back - 31 1/2"
Shoulders - 17 1/2"
The shirt is in good condition with only limited signs of use and age. Overall it appears to be very sound and wearable but please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A nice original 1950s theatre made shirt in good condition and with some nice details.
