An original pair of private purchase British Army officers trousers dating from the 1950s.
These trousers are a well made pair, typical of the quality items purchased by many British officers. They are made from a tan khaki coloured cotton and feature a high rise waist and button fly. The trousers feature twin pleats to the front, angled slash pockets to each hip, waist adjusters to the waist and a single rear pocket. All of these are common features to find on British made trousers from this period. The top of the waist opening fastens with a metal tab and loop which is marked 'Empire made'.
The trousers will suit someone of around a 38" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -
Waist - 19"
Rise - 14 3/4"
Rear rise - 18"
Inside leg - 31 1/2"
Outside leg - 45 1/2"
Cuff - 9"
The trousers are in good condition and have clearly been well looked after. They show only limited signs of wear and there is some minor soiling as can be seen in the pictures. Overall the present very well but please bear in mind that these are vintage, pre-worn trousers.
A nice pair of 1950s trousers with typical period details.
