A fantastic original British Army Officers collarless shirt dating from the 1950s and made by 'Coles of Knightsbridge'.
The shirt is made from a lovely soft brushed cotton which is a light green colour. It features a neckband collar to which a detachable collar can be fitted. The sleeves end in a barrel cuff which fastens with buttons. The front of the shirt features a fully buttoning front of a style which began to appear in the 1940s and became increasingly popular throughout the following decade.
Inside the shirt the original label is still present which bears the maker's name of 'Coles Knightsbridge. S.W.' as well as the original owners initials and the words 'Do Not Boil'.
The shirt is a smaller size which will fit around a 38" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 21 1/2"
Inside arm - 21"
Outside arm - 23 3/4"
Shoulders - 17 3/4"
Collar - 15"
Length - 35 1/2"
The shirt is in good condition for its age and is still very wearable. There are no signs of excessive wear or serious damage although there are some light marks etc. Overall the shirt displays well but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
The shirt also comes with three matching collars which are in good condition with some limited signs of wear.
All in all a nice original British officers shirt with a great label. Ideal for the collector and re-enactor alike!
