An original British Army Officers green poplin shirt made by Van Heusen and dating from the 1950s.
This shirt is typical of those made in the 1950s for officers in the British Army. It is made from a light green poplin cotton and features an attached collar. The shirt features a full button front and is more fitted in shape than earlier shirts. It features a small patch pocket to the breast and a barrel cuff which fastens with a single button.
The original label is still present inside the shirt and is still bright and legible. It features the classic 'Van Heusen' label which bears the words 'Made in England'. The collar size is also marked as 15 1/2 to the inside of the collar.
The shirt will fit around a 38" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 17"
Outside arm - 21"
Shoulders - 17 1/4"
Length at front - 29 1/2"
Length at back - 30 1/2"
The shirt is in reasonable condition overall and is still very wearable. There are some marks and light staining as can be seen in the pictures. Please study the pictures to satisfy yourself of the condition before purchasing.
