An original 1947 pattern battledress blouse dated 1948, complete with its original insignia.
This pattern of battledress blouse succeeded the short lived 1946 pattern and was itself short lived being succeeded by the 1949 pattern uniform a couple of years after its introduction. It is now a very rare pattern of battledress, often overlooked by collectors today.
This example is fitted with a Berlin Infantry Brigade formation flashes to each sleeve and features chocolate brown coloured buttons throughout.
Inside the jacket the original label is still present and states the size as No.12 which is designed to fit a 40" - 41" chest. The 1948 date is present as is the War Department broad arrow marking.
When laid flat the jacket measures -
Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 19 1/4"
Outside arm - 26"
Shoulders - 17 1/2"
Length - 21 1/2"
The jacket is in used, issued condition and has some signs of age and wear. Overall, it is in excellent condition with the only flaw being a few holes to the cuff, as illustrated in picture 4.
A nice badged BD from the immediate post-war period which would make a nice addition to any battledress collection.
