An original British Army private purchase DPM windproof smock which was made by Arktis during the 1990s.

This smock is based on the 'Smock Camouflage Windproof' first introduced during the 1970s. This pattern of smock is often referred to as the 'SAS Smock' as it saw issue with the regiment. It is easily distinguishable by its large patch pockets and features a screen printed camouflage pattern called 'Disruptive Pattern Material' which has to be one of the most iconic British camo patterns to have ever been produced.

This example is made from 50/50 ripstop material and the front fastens with a heavy duty plastic zipper. There is a First Field Dressing pocket to the left sleeve and a rank slide to the front. Inside the smock the original label is still present and bears the maker's name of 'Arktis Limited' along with the graphics employed by this company during this era.

The smock will suit around a 38" - 40" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 25"
Inside arm - 22 1/2"
Outside arm - 22"
Shoulders - 26"
Length at rear - 32"

The jacket is in good condition on the whole with some limited signs of wear and use. It displays well with no serious flaws or damage and is still very wearable. There is a repair to the centre rear which is possibly where the rear rank slide has been removed? A couple of buttons are also missing as is evident in the pictures. Please take time to study the pictures as it is a vintage item though which is well over 70 years old so it may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice original private purchase smock with some great details.
