An original British Army 1950 Pattern Jungle Green Bush Jacket Dated 1951 which belonged to a private of the Welch Regiment.

This jacket was most likely worn by a private who served with the 1st Battalion during the Korean War. The Welch deployed to Korea as part of the 29th British Infantry Brigade in the 1st Commonwealth Division in November 1951 - The same year that this jacket was made. It is a standard British Army 1950 pattern Jungle Green Bush Jacket made from a dark green coloured cotton drill. It features patch pockets to the front and all the buttons are green coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) examples. The jacket comes complete with its original 'Welch' slip on shoulder titles which are made in a matching green cotton and feature the regimental name screen printed in black directly onto the cotton. The top of the right sleeve also features the British Commonwealth Forces formation badge.

Inside the tunic the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the size of 7, the maker's name of 'John Hammond & Co Ltd', The 1951 date and the War Department Broad arrow marking.

The jacket is intended to fit a 36" - 38" chest and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 21"
Shoulders - 18 1/4"
Length - 30 1/2"

The shirt is in good condition and displays well as can be seen in the pictures. It has been starched by the original owner and there is some wear around the sleeves where they have been rolled up. On the whole it is a nice example but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing as this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A nice original shirt with its original insignia. A must have for the Korean War collector.
