An original WW2 RAF Ordinary Airman's Forage Cap in good condition which dates from the Second World War.

These caps came into issue with the RAF shortly before the Second World War and were worn by all airmen of the rank of Flight Sergeant and below. It is now an iconic piece of wartime RAF clothing synonymous with both Sergeant Aircrew and ground crew alike.

This particular example features a brass Kings crown cap badge and two brass Kings crown buttons to the front as was standard at the beginning of WW2 and make it ideal for someone looking for an early example.

The original maker's stamp is still visible to the interior but is hard to read. The War Department broad arrow marking is still visible but I cannot see the date. The stamp is yellow in colour which is often found in wartime produced RAF side caps.

The cap is around a size 7.

The condition of the cap is good as can be seen in the photographs. It shows some signs of wear and age with a couple of very small moth nips to the exterior and minor soiling from wear to the interior. Overall it displays well but please take time to study the pictures.

A good wartime example of this RAF hat which would make a nice addition to a Second World War RAF collection.
