An original pair of RAF MK VIII Goggles in good condition.
These goggles are arguably the most iconic of all RAF goggles and saw use with aircrews from 1942 well into the post-war years. They also saw action with USAAF crews, Fleet Air Arm and Coastal Command amongst others.
This particular pair are in good condition and retain the majority of their blue painted finish to the brass frames. The leather face cushions are in good condition and a nice deep chestnut brown colour whilst the reverse is chamois leather, which is again very clean. The goggles are fitted with clear lenses which are in good condition with some limited signs of delamination.
The original blue grey coloured elastic strap is still present as is the metal adjuster which retains both of its leather pull tabs. The chrome finish has signs of deterioration leaving the markings hard to read although it is most likely marker 'Levers'. The strap has lost some of its elasticity but still displays well.
Overall a very genuine pair of original goggles which are in clean condition and display well.
