SOLD

An original GDR military motorcycles rubberised coat dating from the 1950s which is in good condition.

This style of coat was worn by motorcyclists and is made from a black coloured rubberised cotton which was chosen for its waterproof qualties. The cotton-back rubberised material is typical of the period before PVC became prolific and is a direct forerunner to it. The coat features a double breasted front which fastens with buttons, some of which are period replacements. It features a light coloured collar which contrasts against the boy of the coat nicely. Ventilation holes have been punched to each armpit and the rear features a storm flap detail across the shoulders. The rear of the coat also features a half belt which is fastened with buttons.

Inside the coat the cotton backing is visible and there is a partial lining across the shoulders to held waterproof the garment. To this is the original label which bears various details including the size of 48 which equates to a 38" chest. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 20 1/2"
Inside arm - 20 1/4"
Outside arm - 24 3/4"
Shoulders - 17 1/2"
Length at rear - 48 1/2"

The coat is in good condition overall with some signs of wear and age. There are no serious flaws or damage but please please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A nice original European coat with some great details.
