An original pair of 1908 pattern supporting straps which were made in India during this Second World War.

Officially designated 'Web Equipment, Pattern 1908, Strap, supporting', this pattern of straps was introduced alongside the 1908 pattern large pack before the Great War. They remained in service well into the post Second World War period with the pattern never changing. They were worn on the large pack and extra brace straps, often seen with a helmet placed between them whilst in transit during WW2.

These straps were produced in India in 1941 and 1942. A lot of uniform and equipment was produced in India and was issued to British and Commonwealth troops fighting in the Western Desert, Far East and in the Italian campaign. The webbing and brass are notably different to those made in the UK and both straps retain clear maker's stamps and dates.

The condition of the straps is good as can be seen in the pictures.

A nice pair of original straps with good clear wartime dates.
