A scarce pair of original British made white cotton braces as worn by the RAF and British Army during the Second World War which are clearly dated 1940.

This pattern of braces remains more or less unchanged from those issued in the Great War. They were replaced in the immediate post-war years with the grey elastic style. They are made from a white cotton tape and feature metal buckles to adjust the size. These are of a notably different design to those used later in WW2. Vegetable tan leather tabs are fitted to each end and button onto the trouser brace buttons. These each feature a brand name to the reverse of the metal rivet which reads 'Climax Washer'.

The original maker's stamp is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the maker's initials along with the 1940 date, the size and the War Department broad arrow marking.

The overall condition is good with some signs of wear and age. Please study the pictures before purchasing.

A very hard to find original pair of early pattern British made with a clear date. These are a must have for any early war collector and would suit a Battle of Britain collector or BEF collector well.
