A fantastic original Men's waistcoat dating from the late Victorian period which is a size 40" chest.

This style of waistcoat was popular in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods when contrasting waistcoats were in fashion. This example is typical of the era being made from a dark coloured silk which features a purple pattern to the front panel. It features fabric covered buttons which are common to find during this period whilst the rear features a cinchback belt and buckle arrangement as is usually found on waistcoats of this vintage. Three welt pockets are located to the front and the collar is a shawl style which were popular during the Victorian period.

The waistcoat is a medium size which will fit around a 40" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -

Chest - 20 1/2"
Shoulders - 14"
Length at back - 20"
Length at front - 24"

The waistcoat is in good condition considering it is over 100 years old. There are no serious flaws or issues with some marks and some light staining to the lining as illustrated in the pictures. There is wear to the armpit which is illustrated in picture 5 and the rear panel has been let out with a triangular piece of material. This is clearly a period modification and not uncommon to find. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a pre-worn vintage jacket which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

All in all a nice late 19th Century waistcoat which would make a great addition to any wardrobe or collection.
