A nice original First World War Scots Guards embroidered badge.
The badge is made from khaki coloured melton cloth and embroidered in white cotton. Cloth badges were introduced into the army from April 1916 to conserve metal. Most of these were designed as shoulder titles, but frequently they were worn on the sleeve instead. In this case though, the badge was designed to be worn on the sleeve.
