SOLD

An original women's poplin cotton blouse dating from the 1940s and in good condition.

This pattern of blouse was worn by women serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service as well as other women's branches of service. It is made from a tan khaki coloured poplin cotton and features a full button front and a neckband collar to which a detachable collar can be fitted. Inside the shirt the original label is still present and bears the maker's name of 'Austin Reed' who were a prolific maker of officer's clothing during the Second World War. The label bears the graphics used by the company during WW2 and It is the correct construction and material used during the 1940s. There is no date however so it is not possible to date it more exactly than that.

When laid flat the blouse measures -

Chest - 20 1/2"
Inside arm - 23 3/4"
Outside arm - 26"
Shoulders - 15 1/2"
Length at back - 25"
Collar -14"

The shirt features a double cuff which is intended to be worn folded back with cufflinks. The sleeve measurements need to be shortened by 2 1/2" to allow for this.

The shirt is in good condition with no real signs of previous wear or use. Overall it is a very clean example and it displays very well. It is of course a vintage item so please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

A nice original WW2 period women's blouse in great condition.
