An original WW2 US Army Officers Garrison Cap complete with Lieutenant rank and Airborne Officers Cap Badge.
This hat is made from the Standard green wool elastique fabric used on Officers caps during the Second World War which is sometimes referred to as ‘Chocolate’ and was intended to be worn with the pinks and greens uniform. It did in-fact see use with all uniforms in and out of the field.
The interior is lined with rayon and features a leather sweatband as is common on these caps. A name has been added in ink but is sadly no longer legible.
The cap has the officers black and gold piping to the edges as well as a silver coloured captain bar which doesn’t appear to have any maker markings to the rear. The opposite side of the cap features an Airborne Officers cap badge which is most likely a later addition.
The cap is a smaller size and is no bigger than a size 6 7/8.
The cap is in reasonable condition for its age and displays well as can be seen in the photographs.
Altogether a reasonably good example of a WW2 US Officers Garrison cap.
