Rare Original 1939 Dated British Army Service Dress Trousers

Rare Original 1939 Dated British Army Service Dress Trousers

Code: 55810

SOLD

An original pair of British Army Service Dress trousers dated 1939.

This pattern of trousers are unchanged from the pre-war design. They are made from the standard serge wool used for British Army uniforms during the First and Second World Wars and feature stamped brass buttons. The rear of the trousers features a 'fishtail' back whilst the leg is cut in a narrow fashion and are tell-tale signs of what many collectors refer to as '1922 pattern'.

Inside the trousers the original War Department acceptance stamp is still present and is surmounted by the letter 'R' which denotes 1939 as the year of issue.

The trousers will suit a 30" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 15"
Rise - 13 1/2"
Rear rise - 19 1/2"
Inside leg - 30"
Cuff - 9"

The trousers are in good condition for their age with limited signs of wear or use. There are some small holes to the crotch and another the leg which are illustrated in the pictures. Overall they display well but please bear in mind that they are  a vintage, pre-owned item which has been worn so please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

Altogether a nice original pair of trousers which are hard to find, especially with a good BEF period date.
