An original men's suede waiscoat made by R. W. Anderson of York and dating from the 1950s.

This waistcoat is typical of those worn by men in the post-war period as a more casual, town and country type item. The front is made from suede and features four frpnt pockets and hunting style fox head buttons, typical of the era. The intterior is lined with a cream coloured wool whilst the rear exterior features a checked wool piece which again is typical of this style of waistcoat. A rear belt is made from matching material and adjusts with a chrome plated buckle.

Inside the waistcoat there are two labels. The first states the maker and reads 'R. W. Anderson & Sons Ltd. York' whilst the second reads 'Good Companion Regd' and features a graphic typical of the late 1940s and early 1950s.

The waistcoat is a generous size which will fit someone of around a 44" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 22 3/4"

Length - 26 1/2"

The waistcoat is in reasonable good condition for its age with some signs of wear and use. It has clearly been worn and is missing the uppermost front button. Please study the pictures to ascertain the best idea of condition and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item. ~

Altogether a nice original men's waistcoat which is typical of the immediate post-war years. In a harder to find larger size, it would make a great addition to any wardrobe!
