Original Early 1950s Men's Double Breasted Overcoat by 'Burton'

Original Early 1950s Men's Double Breasted Overcoat by 'Burton'

Code: 55108

SOLD

An original men's overcoat which was made by 'Burton' in the early 1950s or possibly the late 1940s.

The coat is typical of the 1940s featuring a double breasted front with wide button stance, large patch pockets to the front and a waist belt which is made from matching material. The plastic imitation leather buckle is typical of the era as are the contrasting grey and white coloured buttons. The coat is made from a high pile grey coloured wool which features a subtle herringbone pattern.

The interior of the coat features a full lining of grey coloured rayon. There is an interior pocket below which is the original label. It bears the maker's name of 'Burton' and uses very modern graphics for the period. This style of label was introduced in the late 1940s which means the coat may date from the late part of that decade rather than the 1950s. Inside the interior pocket is a paper label which bears various details including the size of 40.

The coat will fit up to a 42" chest with ease due to being cut in a loose, over-size manner and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 24"
Inside arm - 17"
Outside arm - 25"
Shoulders - 19"
Length - 47"

The coat is in excellent condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are only limited signs of wear and use and overall it is very wearable and displays very well. It is a vintage, pre-owned item which has been worn so please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

A fantastic original British overcoat in a classic and desirable cut.
