Original 1941 Dated Fleet Air Arm First Aid Outfit Satchel

Original 1941 Dated Fleet Air Arm First Aid Outfit Satchel

Code: 55689

SOLD

A scarce original 1941 dated example of the aircrew first aid outfit webbing haversack in excellent condition.

This pattern of bag was used to house a first aid kit in various types of aircraft throughout the war. Those found today usually have Air Ministry markings but this is a much rare Admiralty marked version which was produced specifically for the Fleet Air Arm.

The bag is made from the standard khaki coloured webbing used for much equipment employed by the British military during the Second World War. It features brass hardware throughout and the strap is removable. The interior of the bag has two additional flaps which are secured with a brass press stud underneath which is an internal divider and various small pockets.

The original markings are still present to the underside of the flap and are bright and legible. The maker's name of 'MECo' is present which denotes Mill Equipment Company as the manufacturer. The 1941 date is also present. The strap also retains its original markings which are again bright and legible. It was also made by MECo, bears the date of 1943 along with the stores reference number of YA4080.

The overall condition of the bag is very good with no signs of wear or use. There are some limited signs of age etc which are to be expected with a bag of this vintage. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A very nice original example which has very crisp markings.
