Original 1940s British Military Khaki Drill Aertex Shirt

Code: 55844

SOLD

An original 1940s British khaki drill shirt in good condition.

This shirt is clearly Indian made as was a lot of clothing for the British military during WW2 and up until 1947. It is made from a cellular cotton which is often referred to as 'aertex'. This was a popular material during this period due to its lightweight and breathable qualities. The shirt features green rubber buttons as are often found KD shirts made during this period. The original owner has fitted a tropical pattern corporal stripe to the right sleeve.

Inside the shirt there is a circular size stamp which is typical of India made items. The number '2' is found inside the circle and denotes the size.

The shirt is a smaller size which will suit someone of around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 20 1/2"
Inside arm - 17 1/2"
Outside arm - 20 1/4"
Shoulders - 16 3/4"
Length at rear - 31"

The shirt is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. It shows limited signs of age and use and overall it displays very well and is totally wearable. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A nice original 1940s KD shirt in good condition.
