During the Second World War the Lanarkshire Yeomanry provided two field regiments for the Royal Artillery, but was reconstituted after the war becoming part of the Royal Armoured Corps. WW2 period titles followed the Royal Artillery practice (red lettering on blue), indicating that this title dates from the post-war period.
