A fantastic original French made men's flap cap dating from the 1940s in a larger size 7 1/4.
This hat is typical of those produced in France during the 1930s and 1940s. It is a five dart construction example as was popular during this period. It is made from a striking abstract herringbone striped pattern wool cloth which is typically French and has a period feel. The pattern features a wide orange overcheck which is subtle yet classic. The front of the cap fastens onto the peak with a metal press stud as illustrated in picture 3.
The interior of the cap is lined with cotton and the maker's name is printed to the centre of the crown. It reads 'LG Hatters 1 & 3 Rue Lafayette, Pairs' and features typical period graphics.
The hat is in good condition with some signs of wear and age. It displays well and is totally wearable with no major flaws or damage. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
