A fantastic original French made men's flap cap dating from the 1940s and in brand new, unworn condition.
This hat is typical of those produced in France during the 1930s and 1940s. It is a five dart construction example as was popular during this period. It is made from a striking dogtooth pattern wool cloth which features an orange overcheck. The front of the cap fastens onto the peak with a metal press stud as illustrated in picture 3.
The interior of the cap is lined with a cream coloured rayon and bears the maker's logo with the brand name of 'Torpedo'. The size has been marked to the leather sweatband as 58.
The hat is in excellent condition with no signs of wear or previous use. It could be described as 'deadstock' and even has its original paper packaging inside as illustrated in picture 5.
