An original men's lovat tweed men's single breasted sports jacket which was made in 1945 for James Reginald Donington Salusbury Trelawny who was an officer in the British Army. He joined the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry in the 1930s and served throughout the Second World War. This jacket was made just after the war, possibly when he was demobbed.
The jacket is made from lovat tweed which features grey-blue shades in a herringbone stripe and a red overcheck pattern which is a striking combination. It has a three button front and pronounced lapel shape, typical of the 1940s. It has twin rear vents which are not a common addition for the period but were seen on some jackets such as this. The jacket features three welt pockets to the front and a four button half functioning cuff which is testament to the quality of this bespoke jacket.
Inside the jacket features a full lining and a single interior pocket. The original label is present to the interior pocket and bears the maker's name of 'Sullivan, Williams & Co ltd' and the address of 12 Savile Row. Below this is the December 1945 date and the original owner's name.
The jacket will suit around a 40" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

The jacket is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are some signs of wear and use which are to be expected with a vintage piece such as this. This is most notable at the cuffs as illustrated in the pictures. Please take time to study these before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
