A stunning original pair of 1940s men's brown leather Oxford shoes made by the Norvic Shoe Company as part of the CC41 utility clothing scheme.

These shoes were designed by Sir Hrbert Barker who ran a successful shoe business which is still in business today as 'Barker shoes'. Herbert was the son of the founder, Arther, who set up the business in 1880. Sir Herbert was an important shoe designer and the quality of these shoes is testament to his personal dedication to footwear and the importance of good quality footwear being available for all. This outlook perfectly matched up with the CC41 utility clothing scheme which was designed to supply good quality clothing at affordable prices to people of all classes and walks of life.

The upper portion of the shoes are made from a brown coloured leather which features very fine stitching. There is a separate toe cap which features a brogue detail and laces pass through five holes each side to fasten the shoes. The soles and heels are leather and the soles feature the Sir Herbert Barker shoe maker logo and are stamped '90' to the instep.

Inside the shoes the maker's logo is again present as is the CC41 logo and 'Form 623'.

The sole of the shoes measures 11 1/2" in length and 3 3/4" at the widest point.

The shoes are in excellent condition with no real signs of wear or use. There is some minor scuffing to the soles which would suggest that they have been worn briefly, but on the whole they are in fantastic condition. Please study the pictures provided as these are a vintage, pre-owned pair of shoes.

A stunning and high quality pair of mens shoes with some fantastic details.
