Original Mid Century Indigo blue Fisherman's Artisan Workwear Smock

Original Mid Century Indigo blue Fisherman's Artisan Workwear Smock

Code: 55939

SOLD

An original indigo blue sanforized cotton Fisherman's smock made in the second half of the 20th Century.

This smock is typical of those worn by fishermen but were also favoured by artists and artisans due to their hard wearing nature and practical style. There are no labels inside the smock which make it impossible to date exactly although the construction would suggest it is no later than 1960s. It is made from a navy blue indigo coloured cotton twill and features two patch pockets to the front. It is a smock so pulls on over the wearer's head and is therefore cut very generously in the shoulders and chest.

The smock is a medium size which will suit around a 40" - 42" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 27"
Inside arm - 18 1/2"
Outside arm - 17 1/2"
Shoulders - 27 1/4"
Length at rear - 29 1/2"

The smock is in well worn condition with signs of age and use. There is damage to the right cuff and a slit up the inside of the right main body seam as illustrated in the pictures. This has been reflected in the price but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which has flaws commensurate with age.

A well used original workwear item.
