An original Barbour Solway Zipper waxed cotton jacket which dates from the 1990s.

This coat is a classic piece of British 20th Century outerwear and is instantly recognisable as a Barbour. It takes a lot of its design influence from the Ursula Suit produced by Barbour for submarine crews during the Second World War. It is made from a green coloured waxed cotton and features a single pocket to the chest, two more to the skirt; all of which fasten with brass 'Barbour' branded press studs. The coat comes complete with its matching waist belt which fastens with a plastic buckle and metal prong. The front of the coat fastens with a brass 'YKK' branded zipper which is typical of Barbour jackets made during this period.

Inside the coat features a cotton lining which has a classic plaid pattern which is often encountered on wax jackets. There is a large flat cap pocket to the left side of the skirt and a hanging loop is fitted to the neck. There are more press studs fitted to the interior to which a liner can be attached. The original label is also still present and is bright and legible. It features three Royal Appointments which dates the coat to being made in the 1990s. It also features a size label which reads 107cm/42".

The coat is a medium size which will suit around a 42" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 24 1/2"
Inside arm - 20"
Outside arm - 24"
Shoulders - 20 1/2"
Length at rear - 33 1/2"

The coat is in good, used condition and has a fantastic patina. There are general signs of wear and use but it is still totally wearable. Overall it displays well but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A classic piece of British outwear in a good size.
