An original PVC waterproof two piece suit which was made by 'Silver Circle' in the 1960s.
This style of waterproof clothing was very popular for many years with fishermen, dockers and other people employed to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions. Made from a black coloured Polyvinyl Chloride 'oilskin' which was chosen for its fantastic waterproof qualities, the coat features rubber buttons which are fitted using a grommet rather than stitched through the main body of the jacket to reduce the number of places that water could get through. Metal vent holes are fitted to each armpit and there is a stand and fall collar which features a rounded shape to it.
The trousers are made from the same material and feature an elastic waist and side pockets. They fasten at the side which was again to help aid in waterproofing. Inside the trousers the original label is still present and features typical period graphics. It features the maker's name of 'Silver Circle' along with the London address.
The suit is cut to be worn over clothes as an outer layer which needs to be taken into account when studying the sizes below. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 25"
Inside arm - 19"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 19 1/2"
Length at rear - 33"
Waist (relaxed) - 12"
Waist (Stretched) - 19 1/2"
Rise - 16"
Rear rise - 16 1/2"
Inside leg - 29 1/2"
Outside leg - 42"

The suit is in good condition with no serious flaws or damage. There is some staining and some limited signs of wear and use but overall it displays well and is totally wearable. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a vintage, worn pair of trousers which have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice original 1960s PVC suit with some great period details and label.
