An original 1950s wool flannel collarless shirt by 'Pioneer' which is in excellent condition.

This shirt is typical of those made and worn during the 1930s and 1940s. It dates from the 1950s however but is made in the earlier style to appeal to the older generation at the time. It is made from an white coloured wool which has a blue pinstripe running through it. It is of half placket design which is pulled on over the head. This design was prevalent from the Victorian period through to the 1950s when full button front shirts started to gain popularity. The shirt features a barrel cuff which fastens with a button.

The collar is a neckband style made from white cotton. It is designed to be worn with a detachable collar but can also be worn without one. Below this the original label is still present to the interior and features a label with typical 1950s period graphics. It features the name 'A Pioneer Shirt' and there is a second label which bears the collar size of 15.

The shirt is a smaller size which will suit around a 38" chest and when laid flat measures -

Chest - 23 1/2"
Inside arm - 20 1/2"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 18 1/4"
Length at back - 35  1/2"

It is important to remember that these shirts are cut very wide across the chest to allow them to be pulled on over the head so the true fit will be much smaller than the measurement provided.

The shirt is in very good condition for its age with no real signs of wear and age. It looks to be an unworn, deadstock example and is in very clean condition. It is a vintage item however so may have small issues commensurate with age so please take time to study the pictures.

An original period shirt with a great label.
