An original pair of overdyed 1950 Pattern British Khaki Drill Trousers which date from the 1950s.

This pattern of trousers with the cross belt waist came into issue with British forces in 1944. It stayed in use well into the 1970s under different designations including '1950 pattern'. The waist belt was designed to be adjustable to account for the wear losing weight in hot climates. This style is now often referred to as 'Gurkha pants'.

The trousers are made from the standard cotton drill used for British KD items during the Second World War as well as in the following two decades. Originally the material would have been khaki but it has been overdyed in black. They are cut with a high rise waist and the fly fastens with green coloured plastic buttons whilst the waist belts fasten with chromium plated grip buckles. The front of the trousers features twin pleats and there are no pockets to the rear which mean these would have originally been labelled as '1949 pattern'.

Inside the trousers the original labels are still present although they have been overdyed leaving very little of the original information legible. The issue label is no longer readable but the other is with the words 'Fully Shrunk' being clearly legible.

The trousers will suit around a 26" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 13"
Rise - 13 1/2"
Rear rise - 18 1/2"
Inside leg - 27"
Outside leg - 38 1/2"
Cuff  9"

The trousers are in good condition with some signs of wear and use. Overall they are totally wearable with no serious flaws or damage. Please study the pictures and remember that these are a vintage, pre worn pair of trousers, which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A good original pair of trousers in a very popular style.
