Original 1940s Deadstock Unworn French Flat Cap - Size 58

Code: 55790

A fantastic original French made men's flap cap dating from the 1940s and in brand new, unworn condition.

This hat is typical of those produced in France during the 1930s and 1940s. It is a five dart construction example as was popular during this period. It is made from a striking abstract checked pattern wool cloth which is typically French and has a lovely Art Deco feel. The front of the cap fastens onto the peak with a metal press stud as illustrated in picture 3.

The interior of the cap is lined with a silver coloured rayon and bears the maker's name of 'Lemaitre Jean Chapellerie' and the style name of 'La Gavre' which is style of dance. The original paper size tag is also present and bears the size of 58.

The hat is in excellent condition with no signs of wear or previous use. It could be described as 'deadstock' and even has its original paper packaging inside as illustrated in picture 5. There is a crease to the leather sweatband to each side from where it has been folded in storage but aside from that it is in near perfect condition.

A fantastic original 1940s flat cap in a striking fabric and in excellent condition.
