A rare original British made cotton work shirt dating from the 1940s.

This shirt is a typical British 1940s work shirt and is a very rare style to find today due to the fact that they were worn as workwear and discarded after heavy use. It is made from a soft, lightweight cotton with checked pattern and features a half-placket front as was common during this period. The front fastens with four buttons and the barrel cuff is also fastened with a button. The collar is indicative of the era featuring a subtle spearpoint shape and there is a small size label which reads '3' inside the neck of the shirt. This type of size label is again typical of those used on work shirts during this period.

The shirt is a smaller size which will suit around a 36" chest. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 21 1/4"
Inside arm - 19 1/2"
Outside arm - 22 1/2"
Shoulders - 16 1/2"
Length at back - 34 1/2"

The shirt is in worn condition with plenty of signs of wear and use. It has seen a reasonable amount of wear and there are various marks and fading as can be seen in the pictures. It is nonetheless wearable and does not have any serious flaws. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn shirt with some small issues commensurate with age .

A typical 1940s work shirt made from a striking fabric. A very rare find!
