An original linen patch pocket jacket dating from the 1920s.

This style of jacket was popular during the mid Century period for wear in hot climates. It is made from a cream coloured linen which was chosen due to its lightweight nature. It is cut in a typical 1920s and 1930s fashion being short in the body and featuring no rear vent. Two button jackets were popular in the 1920s more so than in the 1930s and the narrow shoulder displacement is also typical of the period. The front fastens with two buttons and features a notched lapel. Patch pockets are located to the front and the jacket features a partial lining across the shoulders. A hanging loop is located to the neck and there are two interior pockets which both fasten with a loop. There is also a swing button inside the jacket which is another typical period feature.

The jacket is a smaller size which will suit around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 19"
Inside arm - 19"
Outside arm - 25 1/2"
Shoulders - 16 3/4"
Length - 29"

The jacket is in worn condition but displays well and is still totally wearable. There is wear to the inside of the collar as illustrated in picture 6 along with some light staining and signs of age etc. One button is missing to each cuff and one of the front buttons is a period replacement. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a well used jacket which has issues.

A classic piece of British summer attire with some great details.
